Engaging Families: Turning Challenging Home Visitor Interactions with Families Into Opportunities for Strengthening Relationships

Engaging Families: Turning Challenging Home Visitor Interactions with Families Into Opportunities for Strengthening Relationships

February 14, 2024 60 minutes

Building relationships with families can be challenging. However, challenges and disorganization can sometimes be expected when we are trying to find common ground with families. While these conversations and interactions can be uncomfortable, they also offer an opportunity for self-reflection and growth. We will explore how to navigate challenging home visitor interactions with families and how our perspectives and biases may affect when and how we experience these conversations as challenging. We will focus on not just what to do to build strengths-based relationships, but how to apply a strengths-based approach to effectively engage families in challenging conversations.
